An Ode to the Class of 2020

For the Class of 2020

The Best Class To Ever Graduate

For the class of 2020,
5 years of hard-work, all this time to have an amazing farewell ceremony, hats to be thrown, IVY League colleges to apply to, travel plans, where are they all now? All those Polaroid pictures, where are those last moments with our favorite teachers? I know it may come as a shock but don't worry, no other high school batch has been written letters by celebrities, random people on the internet and even me. You are special and will always be remembered, stay strong because once all this ends, there will be ceremonies upon ceremonies for you. Patience bears the most beautiful of fruits, I pray that none of you give up hope. As for American teenagers, I deeply empathize with you, all this time for nothing. Prom parties to be thrown, homecoming ceremonies and so many other things that I cannot even count.

Just believe in the positive power of this universe, everything will be alright. Online ceremonies and virtual parties, can they really compensate for all the hugging and tears that were to be shed on shoulders. I am sending all my love your way, thousands and thousands of heartfelt apologies. I feel for you, I really do and I am praying that you get an exuberant celebration when all of this is over.

Lots of love and sympathies,
Beenish.

Pakistani People: Aka Trollers and Judgemental

Diriliş: Ertuğrul

Is Moral Policing Its Cast Okay?

From the past few days, the hype of the famous Turkish TV show Dirilis: Ertugrul has been in the air after it was also recommended by Prime Minister Imran Khan in a tweet to extend friendship towards Turkey. Then, Instagram came along and people started moral policing its cast based on how they dressed and how one actor also had a dog which blows my mind.

It is mildly surprising as these people have at least decency and shame as compared to our actors who come in cheapskate shows like "Jeeto Pakistan" and know nothing about general knowledge. But why Pakistanis? I'll recommend you guys some good books that you can read instead of wasting your time trolling them. This may come as disturbing to you guys but I hate Pakistanis sometimes, and no I am not generalizing the entire population but those who waste time on Instagram commenting on these people's posts. For God's lovely sake, Turkey is a secular state, its people can wear whatever they want, whenever they want and no, they will not ask what people in Pakistan think! Get that through your thick skulls. You have no write to police them, that's not your job, instead of paying attention to your school courses, you have the nerve to remind them of their moral compass. Just get back to whatever hole you came out from and please, our country needs people to work on science and technology instead of people who just sit on their computers all the time. I am fuming at these people, just calm down Beenish, lol! Hey, hey, hey! Did you read my previous article, scroll down to find my conversation with 8 Instagram Bloggers!

Inspirational Journeys

How an idea turned into reality

In Conversation with 8 Instagram Bloggers

Hi everyone! Hope you all are safe in these difficult times; moreover, we all must not forget that this time is there to reflect and inspire us to be better when all of this is over so that we are stronger than before. Today, eight Instagram bloggers will be sharing their journeys on how they took initiative towards achieving their passion. They all had diverse ideas that finally took flight in this quarantine season.

My opinion:

Writing-something that teleports me to another dimension, it gives me the ability to create words and sentences that leave a lasting impact on people. My biggest inspiration is Rumi-his name lightens up a spark for knowledge inside me, fun fact, I have read 3 books by Rumi which further shows the impact his work has on me. You just have to give your readers an eye to eye confrontation experience, it is alright if your writing is not immensely astute but even simple words can cause a wave effect. Make sure you trust your instincts and follow the SMART objectives. Keep pursuing your passion even if its just you that reads your posts😊
Ramsha Areeb:
Its been a long time since I was thinking to make a social media page which would show my talents to others. I was told by Multiple people that I should start blogging. Quarantine gave me the courage and time to do it, so I made 2 social accounts, one for photography and one for makeup. It actually felt great because everyone was appreciating me which gave me more courage to produce more content. Both of the things I chose showcase creativity. For e.g photography adds value to our lives, it allows you to share special moments via pictures. And in makeup, we can create different looks, we can face paint to recreate famous looks, etc. We can really just play around with colors which would give a unique result. Till now, it’s a great experience and I hope it stays that way.

Fiza Kashif

So this passion has been trapped inside of me ever since i can remember, and the good feeling that prevails within you after you finally share your work with the world cannot even be described. it feels amazing to not only reveal that part of yourself to people, but to also inspire other people to share theirs as well❤️

Qasva Yasser

Pursuing your passion in the aim and goal of each and every person in this world!! You can achieve it by anything whether from a social media blog account or by working hard!!! My passion has always been different!! I know that there are many stages in your life in which you have different passions to pursue!! When we all were younger we used to say doctor, engineer and etc. But now it's to much to pursue your inner talent. I have good voice I am good in arts!! This is my passion. Don't keep your passion a private thing inside!! Unless and until you are not gonna show your passion you are not gonna become passionate person. So peruse your passion anyway!! Like I did🙂

Malaika Ahmad

Tbvh, It was quite a tough journey. There were many times I failed. But still I remained focused and promised myself to keep practicing. As George Leonard said, “ Keep practicing, even when you seem to be getting no where” It feels great that now Im confident enough to start my own makeup blog and share all the tips and tricks I’ve learnt during the journey with you guys. Keep showing love 💞 Stay home, Stay Safe

Arisha Khurram

I’ve always been so obsessed with makeup and I always wanted to learn makeup and be the best amongst those who I could be so then I started practicing and now Alhamdullilah I’m on this place showing my ability of doing something and my talent to everyone. No one inspired me to start up my own makeup page on social media but yes there are some makeup artists which I follow. I believe that pursuing and following your dream is not bad thing weather you are bad in it or good time will make everything better because time is the best solution of every problem.

165 Shades of Chaos

Admin 3 : Well, someone should first find out what it actually is that they love to do. You would find yourself wanting to do many different things at once but you need to narrow them down to the 1 or 2 things you absolutely love to do! They should bring you happiness and peace of mind! And then you need to give it all your heart, in order to succeed in them! This hobby can turn out to be your future/career or you can still excel in it while pursuing something else that you love to do too!

Admin2: Passion can be achieved by believing yourself. Set small goals. Try to achieve them first. They will lead you to the Ultimate Goal. And never depend on other people. Try to make your own way.

Admin 1: Passion and hobbies, for me, are not same at all. Passion is something you're highly determined for and it leads to your dream profession as well. To achieve that goal, you have to keep in my mind 3 things; no short cuts, a road map to destiny and honesty. While hobbies bring you peace of mind, they are your relaxing therapies that help you in your free time or when you're exhausted or want a break from your daily routine. Don't try to achieve perfection with your hobbies like if u paint or cook or do anything in your free time, do it for fun. Plus don't get too involved in your hobby that it starts getting on your nerves. Do small things, feel happy, be proud of yourself and thank ALMIGHTY (that's the key to remain sane)

Hareem Bahadur Laleka

I always had passion for makeup. Experimenting with different looks was kind of relief therapy for me. I was lucky enough to be acknowledged and appreciated by my closed ones and that was where I got all that motivation to pursue my talent and showcase it to the world. The only key to excel is consistency and constant practice.

Hope you enjoyed today's post, these are pearls of wisdom from some bloggers that contributed, I will keep updating this blog as they keep sending their opinions to me. This is me Beenish Saeed signing off, until next time!

Being a Feminist in Pakistan

Being a Feminist in Pakistan

What do people have to say?

Being a feminist in Pakistan is no easy feat, we are faced with heaps and heaps of misinterpretations. The funniest part of the story is that women here too prefer men over themselves which is mind-boggling. There is no problem if you prefer your husband over you, but that does not mean you bring down your spirits down just because he is the main bread-winner for your household. You make a house a home, you raise your children to give them a better lifestyle and you love your family above all. You make time for them no matter what, do not say that you are less than men just because society wants them to work.

The Aurat March which took place in Pakistan on 8th March, 2020 was a complete disaster, men like Khalil ur Rehman Qamar completely destroyed the meaning of feminism. Can't a women work and raise children, together at the same time? The next thing that comes to mind is the wage gap, for every 1 dollar that a man makes, a woman only makes around 0.90 dollars at its best in Iceland. Benazir Bhutto, was a true feminist but we all know the terrible fate she had to face, death- above all being bombed. A microscopic minority of men still believe in patriarchy, even if its the 21st century. Even some women are of the opinion that sexual harassment and rape cases are because women wear rather flimsy costumes; however, even a Burqa does not stop a woman from being cat-called in public, how is this even true? I above all want to applaud countries like Saudi Arabia for giving women some independence, for example, driving without a male guardian. The Western world is utterly shocked at this revelation because it seems far from realistic to them but even countries like Pakistan still see women facing men saying that "we gave you permission to drive the car"  which reiterates the fact that male dominance prevails and the fate of a woman depends on the man.

Reality is a social construct- so if someone tells you that women are only meant to sit in the house if we think practically, if we change ourselves today then can only we, without any fear walk on the streets, without being catcalled. Social inequality, is also a major factor in educational deprivation of women, in MBBS colleges you may see majority women but only half of them make out doing house jobs or give the USMLE exam. Then men come into play as they complain of women taking their seats; however, it is either them or their mothers who want women to stay at home. Hypocrisy is in the veins of each and everyone in this country.

Lets start with small steps to an equal Pakistan because the journalists here are going to be in a frenzy after we directly ask for bodily autonomy which is pretty messed up since it is mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by United Nations. This world would be a better place if we all played our part and supported women-there's no harm if a woman is your boss and is on a higher position than you. Cultural relativism- this is the biggest factor that limits women from achieving greater goals, culturally, we are expected to be the primary care-takers for our children; but what about single dads who want to project a positive picture to their children that its not always women who can be better care-takers. The growth of nuclear families is also a major reason for women to be staying at home.

An odd and rather dull-witted stereotype exists in our society that women are not as astute as men in subjects like Science and Mathematics, and even if they are, the entirety of the credit is given to their husbands or a male in the family for helping them. If Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize because of her husband then why not dig deeper into Albert Einstein's past? So men, this is not your cup of tea, all we want is equal educational rights even in low-income government schools and in the workplace as well. Is this too much to ask for?

Personal Development (My Tips To You)

Personal Development (How to get better at your passion)

Hi readers. Hope you are all having an amazing day. Today's post is all about how you can excel at something that you really think you are good at, for example, writing works best for me. First, lets talk about how I developed writing as a hobby for myself; however, if you are achieving something big then you will need the help of others to make sure your passion is pursued.

I have always thought of writing as my strong fort and there were a few things that I could do to make sure that my passion does not go wasted. First of all, I started with an Instagram account that featured my short prose and ideas. If you want to access it www.instagram.com/beenishsbarrenriver/ . I did not get like an extremely favorable response from this account, the maximum followers I could reach was 88. Just keep promoting your account on all your personal social media handles and InshAllah everything will be okay. I had my blogging website before as well. The link is mentioned in my previous post.

There is always a reason why you want to make sure your passion is unique and firstly you need to identify it.

Just remove the idea that you cannot pursue your dreams because at times it just feels like what you want is impossible but at the end of the day you'll know that the idea of not being able to achieve what you wanted was just a stupid thought. Secondly, take initiative. Start with something small but make it concrete, like start a blog with your music videos or upload them on YouTube. Thirdly, reach an audience. Ask your friends to promote your account and then the rest is on you. By this, I mean that get an aesthetic presence, upload eye-catching pictures and start using realistic pictures, which are taken by you.

I hope you enjoyed today's post, keep pursuing your passion and never stop believing what you think is right. This is me Beenish Saeed signing off, until next time. Peace!

Stronger than Iron

Stronger than Iron

This post is written from the point of view of someone facing depression and anxiety. We all in some way want to fit into society just because being different is so haunting.

Dear World,
I know I have been a nuisance to each and everyone of you, I am sorry to have burdened you with my problems when you had your own to deal with. I just couldn't help myself, the walls were caving in on me and the weight of my worries started to take toll on me. Each time I breathe, it scares me to the core, each day in this world is daunting, I just want to give up but the idea of dying in this messed up world sounds petrifying. My neck has scars, lessons that tell me that this isn't what I wanted. Nobody wants to live a melancholy life, but why me? I tried being optimistic but the light made my worries even more prominent. I gave in, I gave it all away, I gave away my sanity to those who needed to suck out my energy. Just because I took a different path doesn't mean I was carefree, I had bigger ambitions, I wanted to fly with the eagles but those below me saw a different picture. Why does it matter how much I make? If money was the problem then I would be richer than your thoughts, my work is my sanctuary and I value it, so stop trying to tell me that I want is impossible. Just because nobody thought of it before does not mean it cannot be achieved. No, I do not regret being iron, even after your remarks I stand tall, with God behind me nothing can stop me. Please, I have been there and done it, so I will not fall in this trap of yours again. If being a girl doesn't stop me from running , then you should not stop me from doing what I feel is right. I chose to be different because I knew myself. So, today, this ends with a person stronger than iron.

Kind Regards,
Someone who doesn't give a shit now.

How To Spend Quarantine and Online Activities

Introduction

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having an amazing day because I know that I am not. A few days ago on March 13th, we were all going to school, socializing to our limits and then God gave us all a wake-up call. Once all of this ends, I am never going to take even a single day at school for granted or consider it another day at OPF. I am not the best person to look up to for advice in this time because I like to be termed as "the procrastinator" but when you have been sitting at home for a month, everything just seems so disdain and dreary.

How to spend this time without hitting your head in a wall?

1) Socialize with your family
I know this seems very obsolete but really, your main support system is your family and remember that they too are facing a lot of pressure from places like work etc. Just spend time with them on things like Board games. Only desi kids know what war ludo wages in the family.

2) Watch Netflix
Netflix has a lot to offer in this COVID 19 situation, for example, you can watch Money Heist. In my opinion, keeping up with the trends is really not that important but if you feel so then a long and hefty season awaits you.

3) Cook or Bake
Cooking or baking is a really enjoyable hobby even though me and baking never get along. I'll be uploading some links to where you can make easy recipes. Don't ask for my opinion on cooking because I cannot provide you with valuable expertise.

4) Sleep;)
This isn't really a hobby but more of a necessity. Sleep as much as you want because you never know when you'll get the time when all this is over.

5) DIY Skincare products
You can now diy your own products at home like a mask for example. I don't have experience in this department either so I really don't know what to say either.

Now, you're all wondering where have we read these blogs again. Yes, I do have my own website too where I also post blogs. https://beenishsaeed158.wixsite.com/mysite . You can access it here.

Online activities
You can start your own blogs or make a twitter account to post memes. These are the two things I did this quarantine.

Stay safe everyone and keep reading for more blogs. This is me Beenish Saeed signing off.
